ALJUR ABRENICA: I like him very much!!!!

The first time I watched Dyesebel episodes, I spotted this guy. I like the way he talks, moves and everything about him. Every time I surf the net, I usually search his images in google image. I can’t help but fall in love with him. Some of gay fantasize him.

Abrenica was discovered when he joined the reality-based talent search “StarStruck” where he won the “Ultimate Hunk” title. After winning the contest, he was included in the GMA 7’s concert variety program “SOP.”

Abrenica’s first starring role came in 2007 in a teeny-bopper/youth oriented program “Boys Next Door.” In the same year, he landed another starring role in the fantasy series “Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan.”

Kambyo

After producing two successful movies, Ang Lalake sa Parola and Ang Lihim Ni Antonio, the indie film tandem of Lex Bonife (as screenplay writer) and Jay Altarejos (as director) are at it again to give us another gay-themed movie to watch out for, entitled “Kambyo”. The film brings to the silverscreen two of the hottest members of Viva’s all-male bump-and-grind group Men of Provoq, Johnron Tañada and Gabz del Rosario; along with indie film discoveries, Rayan Dulay and Kenjie Garcia; and former teenstar Harold Macasero.

Kambyo is a story about four men who went on a roadtrip which would change their lives forever. Here is the movie’s synopsis:

“It’s the last summer of their university life. Cousins Macky (Rayan Dulay of Bathhouse) and Manuel (Kenjie Garcia of Ang Lihim ni Antonio) start on a road trip to look for the Macky’s long lost friend Philip (Johnron Tanada). They bring along with them their fun loving friend Xavier (Harold Macasero), who tags along a hunky guy named Aldo (Gabz del Rosario), whom he just met right before their trip.

As the engine of Macky’s old van begins to accelerate, their relationships start on a new journey. Love blooms. Secrets unfold. Insecurities collide. And hidden desires set in.

As they drive their way up north of Manila, this unrestrained group of three friends and a stranger explore the boundaries of their friendships, their sexualities, their dreams and the future that lies ahead of them.”

Watch the movie’s full trailer, below.

“Kambyo” will have a premiere night at the UP Cine Adarna (formerly UP Film Center) on July 5, 2008 at 7:00pm. Catch this special screening as its regular run in theaters are yet to be announced. Tickets will be sold at the venue prior to the movie’s screening and are priced at a little over P100.

Special thanks to Lex Bonife for the movie’s synopsis and some pics in this post.

Jay: multi-awarded movie

Following the successful exhibition of the highly-acclaimed independent film “Jay” at the 2008 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival here in the Philippines and at International Film Festivals in Bangkok, Bahamas, Venice, Vancouver, Pusan, London, Thessaloniki, Oslo, Bratislava and Berlin (Asian Hotshots), the masterpiece of director Francis Xavier E. Pasion makes way to local cinemas beginning February 4, 2009. On that date, it will be shown on the following SM Cinema Branches: North EDSA, Megamall, Fairview, Manila, Sta. Mesa, Southmall, Mall of Asia, Bacoor, San Lazaro, Cebu, Davao, Pampanga and Clark.

The movie shall have succeeding runs at International Film Festivals in Rotterdam (January 21 – February 1, 2009), Goteburg (January 23 – February 2, 2009), Geneva / Blackmovies (January 30 – February 9, 2009) and Mexico / FICCO (February 17 – March 1, 2009).

“Jay”, a film which is loosely based on the gruesome killing of a television show producer who was found dead in his apartment sometime in 2006, is masterfully told through a cinematic narrative. It brings together two of the country’s most effective actors, Baron Geisler and Coco Martin, to give realistic portrayals of the characters as envisioned in the screenplay written by the director himself.

Here is a backgrounder on the movie: “Jay, a gay school teacher, is brutally murdered in an apparent sex-crime. Even before his family hears about it, a TV producer—also named Jay—and his camera crew are inside their house to document their shock and grief. The TV producer convinces the family to let him shoot the dead man’s wake and funeral for a “reality show”. This will help them ferret out the truth about the crime, find the killer, and bring him to justice, he says. However, it soon becomes clear that this concept of “truth” owes much to the entertainment value of the material being shot, and the expectations of the television audience. Skillfully orchestrating this “reality show” is the dead man’s namesake—a “journalist” who knows that the “truth” is whatever works on camera.

The writer-director’s insider knowledge of broadcasting informs his incisive satire, which hits home by making fun of journalistic practices that are too outrageous and shameless not to be true. But Jay, with its mise-en-abyme of reality dissolving into infinite layers of media images and vice-versa, is also a meditation on the ways in which the third world is produced everyday—as a spectacle—and audiences who prefer their entertainment to be as crazy as their lived reality.”

Find out why “Jay” earned the Best Picture award, Best Actor award (for Baron Geisler) and the Best Editing award (for Kats Serraon, Chuch Gutierrez and its director Francis Xavier E. Pasion) at the 2008 Cinemalaya International Film Festival; the Best Picture award, Best Director award, Best Screenplay award and Best Actor award (for Baron Geisler) at the Gawad Tanglaw Awards; and Special Mention Awards at the International Film Festivals in Bangkok and Bahamas as the movie runs in SM Cinemas on February 4, 2009, “uncut” (yes, the MTRCB allowed Baron’s daring frontal scene but gave the movie an R-13 rating).

And as a special treat from the director, all those who are named “Jay” will be be given a SINGLE ADMISSION TICKET to see the movie once for FREE. All they have to do is present their photo IDs. This is the director’s way of giving back to the name that has brought luck to the film.

Carlo David

Another unknown hunk has been discovered. Who is this Carlo David? I have not heard or read about this guy before, but I think his pics are worth checking out. This guy is really oozing with sex appeal.

Carlo Ian Adorador

Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dark Brown
Shoe size: 9″
Height: 6′0″
Chest: 38″
Waist: 29″
Body Type: Athletic

Carlo Ian Adorador is a sought after model in the Philippines who started out by winning the FDAP-organized Bodyshots modeling competition in 2002. Immediately following the competition, he received tons of modeling offers especially from top designers in the metropolis.

Wanting to penetrate the international scene, he joined the MTV Fashionista Best Model Search in 2003 for the right to represent the Philippines in one of the three international modeling competitions, namely: Manhunt International, Mr. Intercontinental and Best Model of the World. However, Carlo was unsuccessful in his attempt. That year Raphael Keifer, Brent Javier and Anthony Madden took home the top prizes.

Although he failed in his first attempt at international modeling, he continued his career in the Philippines. Since then, he has modeled for several local and international fashion brands, was chosen as one of the Cosmo Bachelors and appeared oin the cover of the first issue of Icon Magazine. Within a few years since he started out in modeling, he has become one of the most recognizable faces and one of the most in-demand models in the Philippines.

Last year, he was given the chance to represent the Philippines in an international modeling competition – Mr. Expo World. He didn’t win the top prize nor any of the major awards but it has been a springboard for him to land jobs in the international modeling circuit. At present, his international careers are being handled by Thumper Models in Singapore and Connect Models in Hongkong.

For those of you who might wonder why he didn’t make a career shift into acting; well, he is quick to explain that he will just be made to star in skin flicks, so he declined acting offers.

Bruce Angelo Quebral

Bruce, a 25-year old guy from Cainta, used to play for the University of the Philippines and the Philippine Basketball League.

As a child, Bruce Angelo Quebral was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He had everything that any boy of his age can only dream of. Bruce went to an exclusive school, rode an expensive car, had a personal driver, a uniformed nanny, and other five maids. He was living a luxurious life, until a tragedy struck their family and turned things around.

Bruce’s father was diagnosed with cancer. His old man was brought in and out of the hospital for treatment. The expensive hospital bills took a major strike on their finances and drove the whole family to debt. But all the family’s effort ended up futile as his father succumbed to the disease not long after.

His family faced with money problems, Bruce took on his father’s role of provider. He and his family had to let go of the wealthy lifestyle that they have gotten themselves used to. Bruce admits to forcing himself to mature immediately so he can support his family.

Bruce also had to give up his dream. After playing basketball for the UP Fighting Maroons, Bruce thought he was on his way to becoming a professional basketball player when we got the chance to play for the Granny Goose team in the PBL. Unfortunately, the game was over before it even fully began as Bruce’s PBL career was cut short by a serious injury.

Unable to go back to the court, Bruce decided to work as a model to make a living. Being the eldest child, Bruce supported his brother and sister and paid for the medical expenses of his ailing mother.

This time in PBB, Bruce was given the opportunity to revive his passion for basketball. To mark his debut in the House, Bruce was tasked by Big Brother to officiate the basketball league involving the other housemates. Big Brother was confident that Bruce will be able to accomplish this task given the new housemate’s basketball expertise.

Additional Info: Bruce Quebral was a La Salle Greenhills graduate and has been part of the Maroons team in the UAAP when he was still a student of University of the Philippines. He represented the Philippines in Manhunt International in 2002. He worked as a part-time model and has appeared in a Revicon commercial before.

Brent Javier

Brent Javier, born June 20, is a Filipino model. Raised in Canada, Brent Javier came to the Philippines initially to play basketball but fate intervened and he is now a big name in the fashion industry.

Brent Javier is one of the sexiest male model in the Philippines. Javier is the 2003 Mossimo Bikini Summit Winner and MTV Best Model of the World Philippines – Manhunt Winner.

Currently, the most in demand male model in the Philippines, he is the winner of the Mystery Guy contest of Pond’s. He has appeared in numerous ad campaigns including Addict Mobile, Bench Body, and Mossimo.

Brent Javier is one of the country’s hottest models. His boy-next-door looks and easy smile have made him a shoo-in for modeling contests, including the 2003 Mossimo Bikini Summit and MTV’s Best Model of the World-Philippines Manhunt, where he landed plum titles.

Brad Murdoch

Brad Murdoch is a popular model in the Philippines who has appeared in several television and print advertisements. He has also been featured in fashion events for Marc Ecko and other fashion brands.

One of his other media exposures was being featured in the “Get Me!” dating challenge in GMA7’s Extra Challenge. In the show, he, along with 11 other challengers (including Bim Cecilio and Edward Paez) were tasked to win the hearts of the three searchers Katrina Halili, Katarina Perez and Ella V.

One of this Filipino-Australian hunk’s notable career moves is his cross into showbiz via ABS-CBN’s Fantaserye entitled Super Inggo where he played the role of the main villain, Prince of Darkness. In the show, his character mistakenly thinks that his long lost son is the show’s protagonist; and this was where the conflict of the story arose. The show also featured Mark Manicad who was cast to play one of the minor villains in the show.

Apart from Brad’s towering height of 5′10″, his trademark long curly brown locks have proven to be his greatest asset in landing modeling jobs. In the male modeling world, you have to remain young-looking to continue getting modeling jobs; and having a head full of hair plays a vital role in doing so.

However, as young men age, the normal hairline does rise about ½ inch in the front and about 1 to 1½ inches in the corners. This is not what the advertisers want in their young male models. Like with male actors, low hairlines are a sign of virility and youth, and no one wants to get cast as an older man before their time. (from baldingblog.com)

It is quite apparent that Brad has been gifted with a good set of genes; up to now, he has not shown any sign of balding. If having a full head of hair is also a sign of his longevity in showbiz, I think Brad is going to be here for several more years to come.
