HellBent (2004)

Two gay men on a date are murdered the night before Halloween in West Hollywood, California. Eddie and his friends Joey, Chaz and Tobey are going out the following night to the West Hollywood Halloween festival when they encounter the psycho, who sets his eye on them. The killer stalks them through the festival as Chaz parties, Joey chases his jock crush, Tobey tries dressing in drag, and Eddie pursues Jake, the bad boy he wants to get to know better. Not until the very end do you find out who dies and who survives their night of terror.

An endearing and sincere drama that chronicles the ten-year life of a gay relationship. Back in 1978, everything seemed possible for several young men. But ten years later, all are gone except for Philip who is left alone, wondering what the hell happened. He tries to make sense of the joys and the sorrows as well as to chart a new direction for the future. Writer/director Natale’s feature film debut depicts the lives of five friends in conflict with themselves and each other yet ultimately, the insightful tale is about love and survival. Gone, But Not Forgotten (2003)

Since the tragic death of their parents, Drew (newcomer Aaron Orr) has worked for his brother as a forest ranger in the small but picturesque mountain town of Summit Valley. When he rescues a handsome young man (newcomer Matthew Montgomery) from a mountain accident, his aimless life takes on new direction. The man he has rescued has lost his memory due to the psychological trauma of the accident, and his only knowledge of himself is his first name—Mark—and the brief flashes of his life that come to him in nightmares.

Even as he and Drew fall in love, Mark is troubled by his ignorance of his own identity. He can’t settle comfortably into a new existence as Drew’s acknowledged lover. Samir is an outsider. He’s Arab living in rural France and he’s still recovering from the death of his lover. Oh, and he’s gay. That’s three strikes already against him. He befriends Quentin, a young man celebrating the publishing of his first novel. There is quite a bit of sexual tension between them, but Quentin is more a cock tease than potential mate. After a while he pushes Samir away for good and leaves the small town for the big city and success that everyone believes is coming to him. Also left behind are Quentin’s girlfriend, Julie, and best friend, Jimmy. With Quentin away, they decide to play — with each other. Once again, Samir is the one left out.

Frisk (1995)

A first person narrative of the exploits of a gay serial killer in deeply disturbing, controversial drama about violence, sexuality, and the imagination. Dennis, the main character, whose lead we follow on this path between what is real and what we can only hope is surreal. His friends attempt to determine if he’s truly a psychopath. The story, is told in the form of a succession of ritual-like murders, comes to life through the letters he writes to his sometime lover and best friend Julian and the object of his desire, Julian’s younger brother, Kevin. The film is set in an erotic world of sado-masochism and portrays the sexual appetites of a young man for whom killing and engorging the victim become the ultimate thrill.
